About me
Lori DeMott, OTD, OTRL, CHT, is an Assistant Professor on the Clinical Tenure Track in the Department of Occupational Science and Therapy at Grand Valley State University. She has over eight years of academic experience and teaches in the occupational therapy curriculum. Dr. DeMott earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Michigan University and completed her post-professional clinical doctorate at Rocky Mountain University. Her clinical background is in hand therapy, and she brings this experience into her teaching and research. Her scholarship focuses on occupational therapy education, student learning, clinical reasoning, and occupation-based practice. She is also interested in upper limb rehabilitation, biomechanics, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Dr. DeMott is committed to helping students connect evidence, clinical practice, and occupation. She values experiential learning, mentorship, and the preparation of students to become thoughtful and effective occupational therapy practitioners.
