About me
Lori DeMott, OTD, OTRL, CHT, is an Assistant Professor on the Clinical Tenure Track in the Department of Occupational Science and Therapy at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). With over six years of academic experience, she has been instrumental in developing and delivering the Occupational Therapy curriculum.
Dr. DeMott earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Eastern Michigan University and later completed her post-professional clinical doctorate at Rocky Mountain University. With extensive clinical expertise in hand therapy, her research interests focus on advancing occupational therapy education, clinical practice, and student learning. She explores topics in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), with interests in the biomechanics of upper limb rehabilitation and the effectiveness of occupation-based interventions.
Passionate about integrating evidence-based practice into education, Dr. DeMott emphasizes clinical reasoning, research methodologies, and interprofessional collaboration. She is committed to fostering student engagement through experiential learning and mentorship, preparing future occupational therapy professionals for impactful careers.
