About me
I am a second year master’s student at Eastern Michigan University pursuing my degree in Occupational Therapy. I held the position of the Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD) representative for my program and served on the Student OT Association (SOTA) e-board from 2021-22. During the winter/spring semester of 2022 I was lucky enough to be selected as graduate teaching assistant for the Neurological Foundations of Occupation course. In addition I presented two sessions at the Annual MiOTA conference in 2021, one on flow theory in OT practice and another on the use of Tik-Tok by OT practitioners. Spanning from August 2021-22 I also had the opportunity to work with the older adults in Ypsilanti as a technology coach through the Digital Connection Corps. This research project was spearheaded by Dr. Alicia Jones along with the Engage@EMU offices and allowed us to distribute laptops and tablets to the community and develop lessons on technology.Outside of school I was recently given the title of Michigan Branch Manager for EndOverdose, a non-profit organization focusing on education for those struggling with opiate/opioid addiction as well as training for preventing and reversing overdoses. I am currently looking forward to my level II fieldwork rotations at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai outpatient rehabilitation and Life After Incarceration in Ann Arbor. My interests within OT include neuro, hand therapy, orthotics/prosthetics, mental/behavioral health, and community-based practice. I also enjoy the outdoors, camping, hiking, playing guitar, singing, crochet, reading, live music, trail running, and hula hooping. After graduation I hope to gain experience in the field through a travel OT position and eventually pursue a PhD.
